Kenyan President William Ruto is currently on a mission to strengthen ties between Kenya and major tech giants in the United States. During his visit to Silicon Valley, he held a significant meeting with Apple Inc’s CEO, Tim Cook, where they discussed an exciting partnership.
President Ruto revealed, “Safaricom is developing a partnership with Apple Inc to integrate MPESA and its Paypal platform to extend MPESA’s transactional reach globally.” This collaboration aims to revolutionize mobile payments and financial services not only in Kenya but also on a global scale.
His visit to Silicon Valley includes interactions with other tech giants like Intel, Microsoft, and Google, showcasing Kenya’s commitment to fostering technological growth. This initiative, often referred to as Silicon Savannah, is expected to boost Kenya’s tech industry significantly.
