Milimani High Court has put a temporary stop to the government’s recent directive compelling parents to pay school fees for their children exclusively through the eCitizen platform.
The order came in response to a circular issued by the Principal Secretary, BelioKipsang, from the Ministry of Education on January 31, 2024.
The directive mandated parents, guardians, and students to make all payments, including fees and other levies, for government learning institutions through the eCitizen platform or any other digital platforms.
However, a recent ruling by the court has issued an interim conservatory order, effectively suspending the implementation of this directive.
The judge presiding over the case stated, “An interim conservatory order is hereby issued suspending the Circular or letter… until 13th February 2024, when the court will issue further directions in this petition.”
