More Drama As  High Court Halts Football Kenya Federation Meeting

The anticipation surrounding the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Annual General Meeting (AGM) turned into dismay on Friday as last-minute legal intervention threw the event into disarray. With delegates poised to have the meeting on Saturday at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), Nairobi, a sudden injunction from the High Court in Mombasa, prompted by a case filed by Sports journalist Milton Nyakundi, forced the cancellation of the highly anticipated gathering.

The decision that was  made by the FKF CEO, was challenged by Nyakundi, regarding the representation of Murang’a Seal at the AGM. The move sparked outrage, with critics arguing it contravened the FKF Constitution and the principles of fair play in football. In a scathing press release, dissenting voices, including those of some FKF delegates, questioned the CEO’s authority to dictate Murang’a Seal’s representation.

The political landscape within the federation further complicated matters. With the upcoming presidential election looming, tensions escalated as key figures, including Mohammed and Mbarak, found themselves entangled in the fray.
The uncertainty surrounding candidacy and the involvement of various stakeholders added to the intrigue, with the incumbent, Nick Mwendwa, yet to confirm his bid for re-election.

The divide among FKF members became evident during a press briefing where a majority of delegates issued a stern warning against interference from non-members. This stance, however, faced a legal setback with the court injunction, underscoring the complex legal and political dynamics at play within the federation.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Quins managed to widen their lead through Meshack Tunechi’s try, converted by Asena, reaching a 20-7 advantage. Yet, Nondies fought back fiercely, with Fred Shiasi and Charles ‘Jamandass’ Omondi scoring crucial tries to bring the score to a tense 20-19.
